Tools Are Easy To Lose Underwater.

Underwater engineering is more complex than on land. Tools are easy to lose underwater if they are not properly stored. We were thinking about how to increase the buoyancy of the tool and under what conditions the object will not sink into the water.
Concept

After many discussions, we learned that in addition to being easily lost, power tools also have many inconveniences in underwater operations. The problems include weight and visibility, so we aimed at the following points as design goals.


Initial Form Exploration

While thinking about the function, I also hope the shape can differ from the previous impression of electric drills. The overall style is relatively simple.​​​​​​​


Life Jacket For Electric Drill

The idea of wraparound the drill with EVA material (orange area) to increase its buoyancy was inspired by GoPro’s Floaty case, so that the electric drill can stay in place due to neutral buoyancy, solving the problem of tool sinking. It also reduced the weight of the electric drill underwater making it easier to carry and operate.


Extra Underwater Illumination Support

The visibility of the underwater environment depends on whether there is good lighting. Hence, the LED light on ASED is brighter and more significant than the average electric drills’ LED light. With a flashlight mount, it can attach an extra flashlight.
